Autumn
Gradually
Gradually
she celebrates the secret of letting go
First she gives away her green,
now her orange,
her yellow,
and then her red,
until the fire fades
at the last, to lose her dying embers.
All, all is given away, to her very last leaf
There she stands, empty and silent,
disrobed.
Leaning naked against the Autumn air
she begins her watch of trust.
Painting Autumn by David Bergen
What a beautiful poem! It is more than just the description of the season and points to what we discover as we divest ourselves of our leaves and colours, our outer persona. We learn from the tree to stand naked in trust. Thank you Emma. Also, the painting by David is is very rich and exudes a sense of great stillness.
